Ingredients
- 5 cl vodka
- 2 cl coffee liqueur (e.g. Kahlua)
- 3 cl cream
- ice cubes (optional)
preparation
- Fill a lowball glass halfway with ice cubes.
- Add vodka and coffee liqueur and stir.
- Slowly pour the cream into the glass using the back of a spoon so that it floats on the surface.
Helpful tips for preparation:
5 cl corresponds to 50 ml (about two tablespoons).
2 cl corresponds to 20 ml (about a tablespoon).
History and Origin
The White Russian was invented in 1949 along with the Black Russian, which is a White Russian without cream. It does not originate in Russia; the name was given because of the vodka in the drink. It is a popular after-dinner drink, made even more popular by the movie 'The Big Lebowski'.
