History and Origin
The gin and tonic has its roots in the 19th century, when British soldiers in India drank tonic water to prevent malaria. Since the tonic water tasted very bitter due to its high quinine content, they added gin to improve the taste. Today, the gin and tonic is a popular cocktail around the world and there are countless variations that use different types of gin and tonic.
